I had severe chills - headache sore throat about 3 weeks ago. I then have had severe pressure in my face - headache - fatigue - severe nasal congestion - irritated throat - some nasal discharge and now I have aching joints in hands and knees. I was on clavulin for 3 days with no improvement and then put on biaxen for 10 days and was told to extend the biaxen for another 10 days and I still am not feeling great. I was also on 50mg of prednisone for 5 days. ENT said it was not a sinus infection although I am prone to them. What is it and why is it not getting better?

PLease speak to your doctor but it is possible that you may be having gram negative bacterial infection and may need more broad spectrum antibiotics such as antibiotics in the quinolone group. Culture can also be taken to identify the bacteria. Your symptoms are possibly related to constitutional or whole body symptoms due to local infection. I am not your treating doctor and you need to follow their advise. Best.
