57 y o female RN. Never had nose bleed in life. Have been using neti pot with enclosed packets once a day for 3 weeks now. Had fairly severe nose bleed today. No cold or URI. Is this common to have a nose bleed with irrigation and can I continue to use it? I have been following the directons.

Using Sinus Rinse should not lead to nasal bleed by itself unless you blow very hard. If you are using medications such as Warfarin or Coumadin, Plavix, corticosteroid nasal sprays, aspirin or anti-inflmmatory pills this may predispose you to a nose bleed. It is safe to continue with nasal irrigation, but be very careful to blow your nose gently after rinsing. You might also get some relief from our NeilMed NasoGel, which has aloe vera and sodium hyaluronate to lubricate the nasal passages.
