OK to microwave porcelain/ceramic pot to disinfect? (Mine made a strange sizzling sound and smelled weird afterward)
Is it OK and safe to microwave porcelain/ceramic pot to disinfect? I followed the directions in the packaging, and microwaved mine for 60 seconds in my 700 watt microwave. When I took it out it was making a weird sizzling sound even though it was totally dry, and it had a strong "hot" smell, which kind of scared me. I decided to throw out the pot, and I see that others have had issues with their ceramic pots cracking in the microwave. I'm wondering if there are alternate instructions for disinfecting the ceramic pots, and whether it might be possible for me to receive a replacement pot.

Please send us your address to questions@neilmed.com, so that we can send a new one to you at no cost. Like any ceramic or porcelain cups and plates, a microwave should be OK to use and we have had the same supplier for 20 years. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will investigate this immediately.
