NielMed Sinugator not pumping water

I purchased the NeilMed Sinugator about 1 year ago.  It worked fine for many months.  I just got it out today to use it.  I put fresh batteries in and the motor functions, but the water does not pump.  I looked for any obstructions in the tube and nose piece but found none.  The unit looks brand new and I cannot find any reason why it won't pump water.  Can you please help?
