Hi Dr. Mehta. My 12 year old son has had a headache for about 3 weeks! An MRI revealed that he has - Very serious sinus disease. Antibiotics are not giving him any relief. Is there anything we can try to avoid surgery? Thank you very much for your help!
Only thing I can talk about is an adjunctive treatment. The final decision for the treatment will depend on your son's physician. You should start NeilMed saline irrigations 2 -3 times per day. Please make sure that air is not too dry. Consider NeilMed Nasogel for the dry noses if there are any symptoms of nasal dryness. I am sure a referral will be given to an allergist. In addition, please make sure that your son is current will all immunizations. As far as surgery, I am not in a position to comment. However, all abnormal scans do not end up with surgeries.
