Sinus infectinos will cause excessive mucus production. When you perform a sinus rinse you wash away this excess mucus, as well as irritants and bacteria, thus reducing inflammation of the mucus membrane. Normal mucosa (mucus membrane) will fight infections better and symptoms will be reduced or possibly cured. It is perfectly safe to rinse your sinuses twice (or even three or four times) a day. Some physicians recommend using a hypertonic (double strength) solution in certain cases. They believe that a higher concentrated solution will draw the fluid and mucus out of congested nasal and maybe sinus openings. If you want to try using the hypertonic solution, you can use 2 of our blue mixture packets in 8 ounces of water OR use our new green Hypertonic refill packet in 8 ounces of water.
