During nasal wash some solution will usually enter the sinuses. If you had a sinus surgery then a lot more will enter. The saline solution can pool in the sinus cavities and nasal passages and then drain out hours after rinsing. To avoid this inconvenience, take this one extra step after rinsing: Tilt your head sideways and gently blow your nose. Tilt your head to the other side and blow again. You may need to repeat this several times. This will help empty out the areas and get rid of excess mucus and leftover saline solution and will make your nasal and sinus passages feel much clearer. If you experience delayed drainage, do not rinse right before leaving your house or going to bed.
