Is it possible that by not adhering to your advice to not use the sinse rinse when one side is completely blocked that I caused my own viral meningistis by pushing up the viruses in my nasal passages across the thin membrane that separates sinuses?

The answer to your question is no. There are exceptions and that is if you had a recent skull base surgery or recent non healed skull fracture due to an accident. In this case, one has broken the natural barrier and there may be a potential risk. In this case, there would be a risk to you with or without any nasal irrigation. Fortunately this risk is low. Viral meningitis is not an uncommon situation and there are many causes. Your doctor can explain more details to you.
