Is it OK to use if I have a sinus infection? When I try it I get burning and a headache - does that mean it is working against the infection or should I stop using it?

Nasal irrigation will reduce nasal and sinus inflammation and help alleviate symptoms of the infection. However, nasal irrigation should be soothing. It should not burn or cause headaches. Please follow up with your doctor.
