I use distilled water in the rinse solution always. However - I usually wash my kids bottles with hot tap water & dish soap. This keeps them very clean -and we replace every three months. Is it ok to wash with tap water? Rinsing them thoroughly is key - and this cannot be accomplished with distilled water.
When cleaning the bottle, you may rinse it out with running water after performing a saline irrigation. However, you should then fill the bottle with your distilled water and add a few drops of dish washing liquid or baby shampoo. Attach the cap to the bottle, hold your finger over the opening in the cap, and shake the bottle vigorously. Then squeeze the bottle hard to allow the soapy solution to clean the interior of the tube and the cap. Empty out the bottle completely. Then rinse the soap from the bottle, cap, and tube thoroughly and place the items on a clean paper towel to dry or use the preferred NasaDock or NasaDock Plus.
