I have a cold and I want to use the sinus rinse - i do not know for sure if my sinus passages are TOTALLY blocked. I know breathing through my nose is difficult. How does someone know of it is safe to use with their condition?

If you squeeze one nostril closed and get no air flow through your other nostril, you nasal passage is blocked. In this case do not rinse. However, it is safe to rinse with a partially blocked passage. Just be sure to blow your nose very gently after rinsing to avoid putting pressure on your eardrums.
