Is it absolutely necessary to use warm distilled or filtered water in the Neti Pot? If absolutely necessary - can you heat the water directly in the Neti Pot or should you use a measuring cup?

We believe the safest rinse is one with boiled or distilled water that contains no impurities. Warming the water to body temperature is for comfort only, and if you wish to use room temperature water, that is OK. Please do not heat the water directly in the Neti Pot because it is not designed for sustained high temperatures.
